Bad Romance: The first glimpse

Those of you who are connected with me on Facebook must be aware of the fact that my second book is releasing today. To all my friends, readers, fellow bloggers and well-wishers who have been away from my social handles, here's the news. My second book titled 'Bad Romance' is out.

It was one of those hectic days at office when Pulkit Gupta, my publisher called me to say that the book is printed and he expects me to be there on Saturday for signing the pre-ordered copies. Friday evening I confirmed the timings with Pulkit and he asked me to be there by 11 a.m. While there were a lot of butterflies fluttering in my stomach, a part of me was quite unsure if I could make it on time.

The whole of Friday night, in fact the past week, has been weird. Full of excitement, nervousness, cold feet, sweaty palms, anxiety pangs and what not. And since I slept late, I woke up late but somehow I did make it on time at Dariyaganj on Saturday.

As I waited for the books to arrive, my friend who had come alongwith me to keep my spirits high, kept on telling me that it's going to be big. I don't why but I had this feeling that he was more nervous than me. I can probably not describe the feeling; I wasn't getting published for the first time but the mixed feeling of excitement and nervousness was same, in fact a lot more than it was before. Maybe that was because at that time I did not have so much of readership. Now that I have a lot better reach, I have a lot more responsibility on my shoulders, to write not just for myself but for my readers as well.

So when the books finally arrived there was a big smile on my face as per Ashish, my friend. You know they say in Hindi khushi se phooli na samaana. That is what was happening with me and the feeling of getting to hold my book was simply mid blowing. I'll let the pictures do the talking for now.

Oh! The beauties

Yet another shot

I had some 90 minutes in hand and 200 copies to sign because all the pre-orders made from HS18 had to go autographed. I looked at Pulkit helplessly and he was like you gotta do it, girl. Ila Garg, Creative Head at Gargi gave me a reassuring smile and I took a deep breath only to get started with a conviction that I can do it in the stipulated time.

As promised, there are a number of copies that will find such messages. I hope the readers like it :)

I look so drained out but I was happy and the reason was pretty much obvious. Ashish who had a stopover at Delhi before going home took this picture when I took a 2 minute break.

And I started off again with a smile on my face and a happiness in my heart and soul that knew no bounds.

This was taken after we were done with signing all the copies. Huff! I had become too drained out by then and we headed straight to this place.

Since Ashish had a train to catch, we got our stuff packed. I am telling you chicken wrap and donuts had never felt so yumm as they felt on Saturday.

So this was a small account of the first glimpse of Bad Romance-Love, Lies and Betrayals. Do try to take out some time for this book.

With bated breaths and skipped heartbeats, I welcome you all to the journey of Kritika and Tanishq. The book releases today officially. I hope and pray that this effort turns out to be an even bigger success.

Signing off for today. Happy reading to all of you! :)

Romance gone Bad

For a change, I ain't going to blabber too much. There's a news that I wish to share and have been wanting to since a few days now. After the wonderful response of my debut work, I had a lot of mails coming up asking about my second book. At that time, I was clueless if I'd be able to bring it within one of the first book but then I guess, there's someone up there being more than kind to me.

One In A Million turned 1 on 2nd May. It released on my birthday last year and it's the same time of the year like last one and my second piece of fiction is finally up for pre-orders. Yes, I'm not kidding. Bad Romance, a story extremely close to my heart is finally coming up in the market in a few days and as of now, my publisher and HS18, both have been too kind to me by offering maximum discounts on my book bringing down the 165 bucks to just 99 bucks on pre-orders. So, probably all you can place an order for me. May be, give me a birthday gift. Trust me, for an author no gift is better than being appreciated for her book and getting to know that her book has just been sold.

This is the cover page. I kind of felt the book describes the story in a pretty nice way. Sensual, subtle, slow and romantic. Amol Karambe, the cover designer has been quite kind to me as he tackled all my whims and rejections and finally came up with such a beautiful cover.

Pulkit Gupta, my publisher has been my pillar of strength when it comes to writing my books. He has always been after me, constantly motivating me for bringing out the best out of my writing skills. But that doesn't mean that I'd deny the fact that he hasn't scolded me and been literally pinging all day and night to not waste even a single second. I believe, this is the best thing about getting a publisher who is a friend. He knows you inside out and makes sure that everything goes as per your comfort zone. The best part of Pulkit is that he has this amazing art of being firm and gentle in his ways at the same time. I do owe a lot of Bad Romace's progress to him. Thank you buddy!

And finally, sharing the pre-order link so that you can read the story of Tanishq and Kritika.

We have a Facebook Page too. Do like and share among friends.

P.S: The discount offered ends in 3-4 days.

Happy Reading! :)

The Making of 'Moonlit Matinee'

So yes, there's a special news. Since I am still working on my second full fledged work, I thought of bringing this treat for you this Valentine's Day.

Do you like the cover?

Moonlit Matinee is an anthology of short stories comprising 11 prose, 1 poetry, 1 sonnet and 1 ballad. On New Year's eve, Pulkit approached me to associate with him for this book and I still can't believe that it's already coming out. The past 1.5 months have been extremely tiring not only becayse I had to edit this book but also because simultaneously, I had to pack and shift from Delhi to Gurgaon, adjust to a new life and workplace and also figure out the ways of a PG yet again which was extremely tough because for six months I had lived independently in a flat with my friend.

I clearly remember packing when Pulkit called up and said he needs the edited work early next morning. Ah! How could I? I was yet to finish my packing, I knew it'd take atleast 3 hours to complete everything and the loader was expected to come before 6 a.m. in the morning. "Oh! This couldn't be happening," I said to myself. But I knew, it was important and it was to be done because the typesetter wouldn't be available after that for a fortnight which would again delay the book's release. Thinking all this, I somehow finished off with my packing and also the final editing.

And that was not all. At the last minute, I didn't seem to be satisfied with my story so it was changed and 'Bon Voyage' came into light. That one week starting from 24th January to 31st January has been the most hectic time of my life. 27th January was my joining date at Ibibo Group. I had so much to learn here and also get the book done. I have simply forgotten the number of times I'd have read the book. I don't know how I did it but this book has seen me working the most in such a short span of time and has also taught me a lot about time management. I have sincerely put in all my efforts for the book and I do hope it reflects in my work.

Alongwith 11 other writers, Pulkit and I present before you 'Moonlit Matinee'. This is our gift for all our beloved readers on Valentine's Day. Spread love! Spread happiness!

Much love,
Harshita

What have I been doing?

I land here after around two months. Firstly, a big apology to all my readers. I am a tad lazy but this time I've crossed all limits in going crazy and lazy.
Firstly, for around one and a half month I had been having a gala time at home. I have finally unloaded a big burden from my shoulders. Yes!! I am a graduate in Mechanical Engineering. The last four years have been a roller coaster ride for me and form an integral part of my life. But then the golden rule of life is to move on and even though I miss those carefree days I have taken it in the stride of life. I am back to Delhi and you can say back in action as well.

So a few updates for now. If you think I have been busy reading or writing then you are not totally right :D I have done absolutely nothing in the past two months. A few landmarks could be getting interviewed at a few online portals.

Story Refresh

Startup Corner

I also gave interviews to print media including Hindustan and Dainik Jagran.

The book has also been reviewed by some lovely people. You can read the review here and here

The good part is that the book is doing well and yes, I'll be at the Book Fair during the weekend. Hope to meet you guys.

And one big news, I happen to be the Managing Editor of new magazine related to Indian Literature, Expressions Unlimited. Sharing the cover pic of the latest issue.

I should have probably begun with my second work but I am too lazy so guess my readers will have to wait for some time.

And the rest is history, I'll be coming up with a few reviews and posts very soon. Ciao!

Birthday Celebration and Book Release

I know I just can't stop bragging about my debut novel 'One In A Million' but this is the only thing that keeps me going. It is my dream come true. Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! The book is out and what better day could it be released than my birthday.
Yesterday, on my birthday I received the best gift ever.
My book is now available nationwide.
I do hope you guys will love reading the book.

This was the midnight surprise birthday celebration cake. I am blessed to have such lovely friends. The cake was super yummy!!

So coming to the book, orders placed through Infibeam have been shipped and a lot of them have been delivered as well.
The book had gone out of stock on Infibeam but is now back to being 'in stock'.
If you ordered a book through our 'Call and Book' Service, your orders have been dispatched and will reach you within 2-3 days.
HS18 and Amegabooks orders will be shipped very soon.

Today, after the PUT got over I signed a batch of 40 copies that were pre-ordered through our 'Call and Book' Service sponsored by ExpertHippo. The feeling was seriously heavenly, something like the song in hindi

Aaj kal paaon zameen par nahi padte mere

bolo dekhaa hai kabhee tumne mujhe, udate huye

I gave a call to Dad as soon as I was done with signing the copies of my book. I so wished he was there with me then. Mum teased me dramatically saying, "Beta ab hume bhool mat jana!" (Child, don't forget us now.)
My little sis went all excited and said she would get all her friends to buy my book and let her teachers know about the book. She has asked me to send quite a number of autographed copies for her school friends and Principal.
Oh!! Here I go again with my nonsense.
And this one is for my three special bloggers NeishaPrasoon and Vaanbhatt(Mr. Prasoon Verma) whose encouragement brought me here.

Anyway, I'll keep you updated with a lot more about the book.

I do hope you love reading the book.
And all those you haven't ordered a copy please do order and share feedback.
Signing off for today with a click with OIAM.
