The Review:

If you are looking for that perfect romantic novel with happy ending then this is the novel to go for. The story revolves around Akash and Kasam. Kasam is the girl everyone yearns for. Akash is one of those guys who are mad after her, he finds her out of her league. It is not just a story, it’s a journey of love that takes ten years to complete. Kasam gets to know about Akash’s fondness for her through the help of their friends in school. They roam about as friends and Akash always feels that Kasam would never accept him as her beau. During their friendship they get to know each other very closely. It is nice to see the author mentioning certain dark and light thoughts and habits both of them possessed and how Akash noticed everything. The description happens to be very catchy with a very soothing and good language usage. Each scene comes alive with every word, Kasam’s habit of chewing the thermocol cup while drinking coffee, her colourful bangles and her take towards life, changes that come in her with life with time and everything that is hidden behind the colourful, attractive and the most wanted girl of the campus.

Their paths cross again after years when they meet at Mumbai and Akash is smitten by her beauty yet again. Smita has described every scene very beautifully. The colourful description of Kasam when Akash finds her amidst the crowd of Mumbai Station takes you to another world. I loved it how Smita describes every minute detail with ease.

In a few more glimpses, I saw her lemon coloured kurti and purple embroidered jhola. I was nearing her. My speed continued to increase. I saw her hand, her sparkling multi coloured bangles, a red coloured thumb ring, a sea-green ring rig on her little finger, when she tried to stop a man who was about to crash into her.

This was just an instance of the perfect character definition the author builds up in the whole story. Kasam is shown donning the hat of a motivational speaker and runs an institute ‘Prayas’ as Akash says ‘she was doing what she was best at.’ Her speeches are super awesome and mind blowing. You almost feel the impact of those powerful words Kasam tries to present to the audience. It ain’t easy to be a motivational speaker and portraying one’s character like this requires a thumbs up to the author. Now the only question is will they meet again? Would Akash be able to express his feelings for her? Kasam had left him for someone else then, would she leave him again? It’s just round 2 guys, there’s another meeting left for the lovers to finally have a happy ending.

And if you ask me for any flaws then I didn’t find much though the story could have been a little swifter. But I am not at all complaining. The sweetness of love should stay for long, don’t you think so? Overall it’s a great romantic read. I didn’t find much of flaws in the story. This book is truly meant for die hard romantics. This 210 page book wouldn’t disappoint you.

In Conversation with Tanmay Kulshrestha

Hello all!
Hope you guys had an awesome diwali. I'll be posting few pics very soon. In the meanwhile, read on an interview I took some days back at Spectralhues. After Varsha Dixit, Tanmay happens to be another author from my city Kanpur( My name will be coming soon in the list :D The feeling makes me jump with joy). Anyway his debt novel 'The Meth' released sometime back and I instantly took the opportunity to interview him. Read the interview here.
I happened to meet the author in person while we were undergoing our training at DMSRDE(DRDO), Kanpur and that was when I read his book for the first time. But now that it is available in the market and online shopping sites, I'll buy my copy as soon as I return from home. So the review shall be up by the end of this month hopefully. Yes I am at home and enjoying a lot. I have become too lazy and all I do is rest at home with ease. So basically there isn't going to be much of writing today. A small Hi! and I hope all of you are enjoying the Diwali break. I have my Pre-University Test in a week and I am quite scared about them.

Book Review: 'The Fallen Love' by Rashmi Singh

This was my first book by the author Rashmi Singh. Few days I had mentioned about having interviewed her on the platform of Isahitya. I had also received a copy for review and I must say the book left a deep impact on me. Since I had to put up a formal review on the website I didn't get a chance to mention but this my own space where I can blabber at my own pace. The moment I opened the envelope nothing could surpass the beautiful handwriting of the author. Yes, I remember teachers telling us about the importance of crystal clear pearly handwriting and I finally understood its meaning that day. I was totally mesmerized by her writing and I just forgot that we are here to read the book review. So check it out here

Some weeks back I had reviewed Ankrish Khanna's book 'The Fork & Spoon of Life'. In case you haven't read the book yet, read the review here. I forwarded the review to the author and thus got a chance to interact with him. Somehow I coaxed him for an interview and he replied in time. While we had a chit chat he divulged that he began writing the novel when he was just 13, isn't it surprising? I must say I was quite impressed with this school boy. Read on the interview here

Rendezvous with Author Rashmi Singh

Few weeks back I got the opportunity of interviewing the four book old Rashmi Singh. When I got the opportunity to interview her on the platform of Isahitya, I was pretty ashamed of being unaware of her two books on fiction. Till then I had heard of her self help books namely 'Back to School @ 30' and 'Taming The Restless Mind' but when I began to research on her I found out about 'Love's Journey' and 'The Fallen Love'. Meanwhile I was sent a copy of 'The Fallen Love' for review and I was halfway through when the interview happened. And this has been the best interview I have ever taken. In my journey of interacting with authors since the past six months, I never felt so comfortable with the author like it did with this beautiful lady. She helped me lot while I googled out about her and researched all the more for framing questions. Read on to see what we talked about here

Ways to deal with depression

Today, I read an article in Times Life that reminded me my gloomy days. We all in almost all stage of our life face some kind of stress, frustration and loneliness and yes, we try to overcome it by different ways but many times situation becomes too difficult for us to handle so we try to give ourselves physical pain just to divert our mind towards the external pain and the formula really works. May be secretly, but yes many of us have done this and I know how difficult it is to admit it publicly. Being a teenager I can really correlate all this to my life.

To overcome these situations many of us believe that sharing your problems helps a lot. I agree too, it helps a lot but in today’s socialized life, we all know the situation and maximum time we are left with so the source of problem is isolation. We are social animals and we are born to be in a society, without which we can never survive, we depend on others for over survival. Each one of us needs someone with whom we can share and discuss. However, what to do when we don’t have that someone in our life? Moreover, it surely doesn’t mean one should cut themselves.

Believe it or not, but your stressful days can be a boom to you. They can really help you to explore yourself and to know your soul even better. Never force yourself to be happy when you are dying inside, don’t ignore your inner voice, let yourself be free to express your feelings at least to you. Be true to yourself, you can’t hide anything from yourself. Then try to figure out what and when things went wrong, recalling your past will never harm you and try to learn from your mistakes, where you went wrong or when and why the situation went against you.

After that, try to rearrange things to make them come under control. If you are really sure that there is no way out then this is the time to flush all your worries to gutter. Why to worry if you can’t do anything about it? Worrying will also do nothing. Give yourself a long break, try to feel the rhythm of your heartbeat and dance to it. Life is a real gift and we all know it will end one day then why to die every day.

Give yourself a chance to paint, write or do some kind of creative work. Trust me this really helps a lot. Don’t ever worry if you are worst in it still it is far better than hurting yourselves. If you are afraid to show it then do it secretly it will definitely do no harm. I have come across many people who are very creative when they are stressed because this is the best way one can express his feelings. It is well said art is the only thing by which one can connect to their soul and can express every hidden desire or even deep sorrows. So, whenever you feel stressed dance, paint, write and do everything you once dreamed of. You never now, your inner soul may have a hidden Picasso dying to come out.
